General
 
1. What is Purchase Protection Plan?
 Purchase Protection Plan is an insurance coverage offered by MasterCard to its credit cardholders, underwritten by Malaysia Insurance Berhad (795492-W) [formerly known as AIG General Insurance (Malaysia) Berhad] (CMI).

This insures against loss of your Personal Property / Items purchased with your MasterCard credit card in the Burglary, Robbery and Accidental Damage within 30 days from the date of items purchased. This insurance plan is designed to cater MasterCard credit cardholders’ needs and is only available through activation.

Depending on the type of credit card, MasterCard now offers you complimentary Purchase Protection Plan

2. What is a 'Loss' I can claim for?
 You can claim for;
 
a)Accidental Damage to your Personal Property / Items; or
b)Loss or damage to your Personal Property / Items in the event of Theft, Burglary and Robbery as per the terms and conditions.
 
3. How long is my Purchase Protection Plan policy valid?
  Purchase Protection Plan is valid for one year from the policy effective date.
 
4. Who is eligible for Purchase Protection Plan coverage?
  MasterCard credit cardholders (Classic, Gold, Titanium, Premium, Platinum and WorldCard) whether principal supplementary cardholder, are eligible for Purchase Protection Plan coverage after completing the activation policy coverage is limited to one coverage per individual regardless of the number of MasterCard credit cards the
 
5. Is Purchase Protection Plan being offered to Non-Malaysians?
  Purchase Protection Plan is offered to all MasterCard credit cards issued in Malaysia, subject to the terms and conditions policy. Non-Malaysians may activate Purchase Protection Plan via telephone by calling 1300 80 2988.
 
6. Are purchases made overseas covered by Purchase Protection Plan?
  Yes, worldwide purchases are covered. However, the reimbursement will be paid in Malaysian Ringgit (RM).
 
7.  What is the coverage limit for Purchase Protection Plan?
  The coverage limit for the Purchase Protection Plan is 30 days from the date of purchase or 30 days from the date of for items purchased under a merchandising program; provided the full cost of purchase is charged to your MasterCard card’s account..
 
8. Is there any deductable for this policy?
  Yes the policy has a deductable of 10% of the coverage limit. This means that the first 10% will be deducted amount.

1. How do I activate Purchase Protection Plan coverage?
  You may choose either of these two (2) channels to activate your coverage:
 
i)Telephone – Call 1 300 80 2988
(Operating hours: 9am - 5pm on Monday to Friday, excluding weekends and public holidays)
ii)SMS - Follow the 3 easy steps as per below:
 
a)Write Message as shown below:

b)Send to 36660 (standard SMS charges apply.)
c)Receive a FREE SMS reply from 36660 as below:

2. How much premium do I pay for this Purchase Protection Plan?
  No premium is payable as this plan gives you 12 months complimentary coverage.
 
3. Can I activate Purchase Protection Plan coverage for my supplementary credit cardholder?
  No. This policy is limited to an individual basis and the coverage will only cover the MasterCard credit cardholder who the coverage. The supplementary credit cardholder may call or SMS to activate the Purchase Protection Plan.
 
4. Are there any exclusion?
  Yes. You may refer to the policy terms & conditions for the list of exclusions.
 
5.  Does this Purchase Protection Plan cover my supplementary Cards which are not MasterCard cards?
Sorry. This coverage is only for MasterCard credit cards and does not cover competitive brands.
 
6.  What about MasterCard debit cards?
Sorry. The Purchase Protection Plan applies only for MasterCard credit cards.
 
Procedures
 
1. Will I receive a Certificate of Insurance?
  You will not receive any Certificate of Insurance for this policy. However, you will receive a SMS from policy coverage.
 
2. Where can I see the terms and conditions of the Purchase Protection Plan coverage?

Coverage
 
1. What are the benefits of Purchase Protection Plan?
  The Purchase Protection Plan covers your Personal Property / Items purchased with your MasterCard credit card from Burglary, Robbery and Accidental Damage within 30 days from the date of purchase.
 
2. When will my Purchase Protection Plan coverage begin?
  We will notify you of the effective date of coverage via SMS upon successful activation.
 
Claims
 
1. How do I make a claim?
  On discovery / occurrence of the loss or damage, you must make a police report within 24 hours and notify Chartis Insurance Berhad (CMI) as soon as possible. This must been done no later than 30 days after such loss by completing Form and submitting it to CMI together with the following:-
 
a)Police Report (for Insured Personal Property / Items)
b)Original sales receipt / invoice or photocopy of charge form / billing statement
c)Photograph of damaged Insured Personal Property / Items
d)The damaged Insured Personal Property / Items, when requested, to be provided at Insured Cardholder
 
2. How long does it take for a claim to be processed?
  Claims are processed within 14 working days upon full submission of all required documents to CMI. To avoid must be submitted directly to CMI.
 
3. How do I check the claim's progress?
  You may contact CMI’s toll free customer service hotline at 1 800 8888 11 (Operating hours: 9am - 5pm on Monday excluding weekends and public holidays) to check on the progress.
 
4. Where can I get the Claim Form?
  You may contact CMI’s toll free customer service hotline at 1 800 8888 11 (Operating hours: 9am - 5pm on Monday excluding weekends and public holidays) for a copy of the claim form.
 
5. When should I notify CMI after the loss or damage happened?
  You must notify CMI within 30 days from the date of loss or damage.
